West End Group was appointed as Principal Contractor to deliver the construction of a new roof garden and amenity space at The Princess Anne Hospital, Southampton. The scheme involved:

  • The fabrication and installation of a new steel walkway from F Floor Lobby to a new structural reinforced rooftop platform.
  • Key elements included structural steelwork, new waterproofing works to existing roof penetrations.
  • Installation of hard landscaping, planters, a sedum planted area with irrigation.
  • A covered seating area including a small coffee shop facility.
  • The project included cranage of all major components from the front car park and the use of scaffold protection fans over public pedestrian routes.

Strict operational controls were implemented to ensure aero disruption to hospital operations, including coordination with ambulance and emergency access routes, dust and noise management, privacy screening and logistics planning with the Trust’s Estates and Capital Project Teams.
