West End Group was appointed as Principal Contractor to undertake the demolition of two large vacant industrial units at Plots 15 & 16 Terminus Road. The scope of works included the following:
- Full demolition of the superstructure down to slab level.
- Removal and infilling of pits and trenches.
- Disconnection and making safe of all existing services.
- Reinstatement of boundary fencing with secure gates to the front elevation.
The works were carried out adjacent to occupied premises requiring strict site security, phasing of vehicle movements and environmental controls for noise, vibration and dust. The project required an asbestos demolition survey and compliance with CDM 2015, with robust health and safety measures including live traffic management, temporary works design and COSHH controls. All plant movements were supervised by trained banksmen with designated delivery compound and safe pedestrian routes.
